We have been asked to find the site of the original Himley House which is said to be
under the current bowling green. Hopefully, Capability Brown has not built up the soil
too much so that the geophysics can detect it.
We spent a weekend at Himley at the end of April when we did a lot of geophysics on the
bowling green in front of the house. Saturday was blazing hot, just a little rain on the Sunday.
Sue's research team did some valuable work and produced lots of maps and articles.
We continued on a Sunday early in May. Unfortunately, we were not able to return later in the month
because the area is unavailable to us. However, we have produced a preliminary report for Adrian Durkin
which suggests a site for the original old house and has shown some interesting lines
on the geophysics which bear further investigation.
