Hardwick

Site Director: Sue Foster

This is the site of a deserted medieval village near Pattingham. Our job is to locate it and research it. Preliminary evidence suggests that it may lie on both sides of the Pattingham - Patsull road.
A preliminary field walk showed an area where the was a distribution of pottery, presumably from the village. Some geophysics was done in May which showed buildings at 45 degrees to the main road (as well as sand wedges). At the Project Report meeting in September, Carole showed a map which had farm buildings on it at the same orientation.

No further work has been done as the field is being cultivated and may be available in June 2008, but we need permission from Natural England before we can do anything destructive.
